Blue Power, nuevo tratamiento para AdBlue

Blue Power, new treatment for AdBlue

Problems with the AdBlue system?

Currently, Euro 6 regulations require vehicles to be equipped with systems such as EGR, DPF and SCR catalyst (the latter to achieve a certain emissions standard) in order to increase technical efficiency and ecological balance within the possibilities they offer. latest generation diesel technologies.

This system, to perform its function, is composed of a catalyst and a dispenser with Technical Urea, commonly known as AdBlue.

On paper everything is well linked, but when certain requirements are not met due to temperature or routes, problems can arise such as the crystallization of Urea, which can lead to costly repairs and is also one of the causes of greater polluting emissions.

The crystallization of AdBlue.

The urea solution is sprayed towards the SCR catalyst through an injector located inside a specifically created zone, all managed by a control unit.

In SCR, a chemical reaction occurs between AdBlue and the exhaust gases, which leads to a reduction of nitrogen oxides with the formation of water and nitrogen. For this system, the working temperature (260 – 450°C) is essential, as well as a very precise dose of AdBlue:

  • Lack of AdBlue : Incomplete reduction of nitrogen oxide.
  • Excess AdBlue : Ammonia leaves the exhaust and deposits form on the components.

When the reaction between the emissions gas and AdBlue occurs at a temperature below 260°C, crystals form, clogging injectors and SCR.

To avoid this, Ecopower Additives has developed Blue Power, a preventive treatment that improves operating conditions, helping the Urea not to crystallize, preventing the system from becoming unusable and the repair from occurring.

The low quality of AdBlue.

According to a study, up to 28% of the AdBlue for diesel sold at gas stations does not comply with legal specifications.

What does it mean that it does not meet the specifications? Basically, of the Adblue analyzed at 36 gas stations, up to 10 of them supplied an additive that did not comply with the ISO 22241 standard, which regulates the composition and quality of the AdBlue offered to its customers. . The consequences for a vehicle that uses low-quality Adblue (which does not comply with the corresponding regulations) can be numerous: from various types of breakdowns in components such as the oxidation catalyst, to the vehicle becoming unfit for circulation due to emitting polluting emissions. outside of its original approval.

The study highlights the need for stricter quality control of both the Adblue itself that is supplied and the quality of the tanks in which this product is stored.

Using poor quality AdBlue can result in unexpected breakdowns or even cause the vehicle to become unfit for circulation because its polluting emissions do not correspond to its original approval.

With the Blue Power treatment, Ecopower Additives guarantees an enrichment of the properties of AdBlue, protecting the system when the quality of the AdBlue is low and/or extending its beneficial properties when it has an acceptable quality.
